Vivo Y20 and Y20s are smartphones that come equipped with 4G LTE technology, allowing users to connect to high-speed internet access. In case of signal problems, it is possible to lock the device into LTE Only mode instead of switching to the 3G network.
The Vivo Y20 features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, with additional highlights including a 720 x 1600 HD+ resolution display, Snapdragon 460 chipset, 13MP + 2MP + 2MP triple camera, 8MP front camera, and a 5000mAh battery.
In terms of network and connectivity, the Vivo Y20 supports various 4G frequency bands, ensuring a stable and fast data connection. However, slow internet network can be attributed to factors such as a weak and unstable 4G signal, particularly when the user is located in an area with distant BTS coverage. In such cases, simply locking the device to the 4G network can resolve the issue.

- Then dial the code *#*#4838#*#*.
- After that select Phone Information.
- Next look for the Set Preferred Network Type option.
- Tap the drop-down menu (down arrow) and select 4G Only or LTE Only network.
Now the 4G network on your Vivo is locked. However, this method can only be done on Vivo based on Android 10. See below if it has been updated to Android 11.
Using the Force LTE Only App
For Vivo Y20 and Y20s users who have been updated to Android 11, you can use additional applications from the Play Store. One application that already supports Android 11 is Force LTE Only.
Here are the steps to use the application to lock the 4G network on the Vivo Y20 series.
- First install this Force LTE Only application on the Google Play Store.
- Then launch the application and after entering the main page several methods will appear.
- Select Method 2 Android 11 then you will be directed to the Phone Info page.
- Then you just tap Set Preferred Network Type and select LTE Only.
Attention: Permanently locking the 4G network will cause you to not be able to call or be called. Unless your mobile operator supports VoLTE (Voice Over LTE).
There are many factors that can cause an unstable or missing 4G signal. It usually happens because your location is outside of the coverage area.
In addition, unstable 4G networks can occur because the system is working abnormally. To fix this, you can also restart or reset your Vivo smartphone to allow the system to normalize.
